Four months left to prep... what to do?

This morning we learned that our company will survive until the next downleg or 4 months, whichever comes first. The powers that be have been holding on for a sign of sustainable improvement; they grow weary of the wait.

I have set aside 3 months of food and made safe accomodation arrangements. I have knives for protection but no gun or hunting license. I have a great deal of seed and long term survival gear. I do not own land, but their is considerable free range around here that is uninhabited and good for growing. I can live and increase my preps while on UI, which translates into 4 good prep months and 12 limited ones.

Until the smackdown, I intend to keep my gas tank full and to seek new employment. I'll be learning a trapping skill in case I do find myself bugging out. Hunting lessons start in two weeks. I'm also adding considerably to the food and food repacking abilities. Any other suggestions? Anyone seeing good work opportunity, even if it's not desirable?

:36_1_63:November is cold... I'm hoping to avoid bugging out then if I can.

you have a plan that is a good start, many don't even realize they need a plan. Good luck, I hope your employer can survive. What is your employer's industry if you don't mind sharing, good way to gauge industries being impacted right now.

tech services. We've set our existing clients up to be self-sufficient. It was a good approach until new business dried up.

Find a new job while you still have the old one. There's been a few threads in general discussion about how much harder it is to find a job once you are out of work.

You've got to get yourself a firearm and at least a couple boxes of ammo ASAP.

For pistols, look at Hi-Point if money is really tight. Pick up a used Remington 870 or Mossberg 500 shotgun if you want a long arm.

Buy better quality / more quantity if you can afford it; cases of ammunition, too.

HEADS UP on the Hi-point guns... particularly their carbines (far superior to their handguns, street-wise reputation-wise)... picked up a 9MM for $219.00... just using the iron sights without fine-tuning, was doing 1" groups at 25 yards... and a 9MM out of a 16" barrel is a LOT more fierce than out of a pistol! :565:

I agree the hi point carbines are at least as accurate and powerful as an M-1 carbine at short ranges, the .40, I dont own, but understand its quite an improvement. buy several if you can, real cheap on the used mkt, and 9mm is just as easy to find as 7.62x39. plus EVERYONE uses it.
